I thought I would post this article about an event that my Grade 12 World Issues class put together. We ended up with 550 people attending the event and after all was counted we raised $3000. It was hard work, but a great time, and worth every bit of the effort. After all, not only did we raise that money, we also made 550 more people aware of Spreadthenet.org!

My two youngest (8 and 12) children have been raising money for various child related charities for the last 4 years. This year they chose Spread the Net. They have change jars at most of their relatives homes. They made crafts and sold them at 2 Christmas craft fairs. They raised just over $300 dollars. They fight like Tigers most of the year but seem to manage to get along for their fundraising events.

Our class raised $1423.00 to send with our teacher on her trip to Uganda. We had a candy guess, A Give Change to Make a Change basket, we made and sold bracelets, and held a Family Dance in our gym. When she returned, we still had some money left, so we decided to buy 18 nets.

Empowered by you, me and UNICEF

A big part of the Spread the Net movement is you - your commitment to the cause and your ingenuity in spreading the word. Whether you've been directly affected by Malaria, or you had a great fundraising event, we want you to share your story as an inspiration to all and to keep this great momentum going. We've got three ways you can do it:

  2. Send us your story along with pictures and we'll post it in the "See Photos" section on the home page.
  3. Send us your story, and we might film you for the "See videos" section on the home page. Just tell us why you'd like us to film you (and your family, friends, or classmates) and please mention if you have any footage, pictures, images or drawings that could be included in your video.
